Welcome to The Green Dragon’s blog. I decided to start a blog for my website after attending a conference for an web based internet group with a multitude of wicked sales tactics. I drove into New Orleans, had a nice early morning walk through the Marigny and Quarter on my way to the CBD, then endured eight hours of pitches and some really good advice. Since I didn’t have the *gasp* six thousand dollars to fork over to have them provide all these wonderful services for me, I felt my grass roots kick in, so here I am.
For anyone who may not know what The Green Dragon is all about, let me take a moment to give you a quick explanation. I am a woodworker trained in custom furniture construction and antique restoration. I enjoy building things that are a bit more ecclectic in nature. You can visit my website at www.thegreendragon.us to take a look at what is currently available. I make Vampire Stakes, Magic Wands, Druid Sticks, which are directly related to Tarot Cards. Both of these methods are the descendents of a method of divination known as Geomancy, literally, earth divination. I also make wooden drinking tankards, turned goblets, Pirate Hats, hair sticks, and historic games such as bocce and nine pin. I also created an incredibly fun cat toy and game called Cat Quoits, also based upon a historic game called Quoits which was the predecessor to the game of Horseshoes. I chose this route with my woodworking because I not only enjoy working with wood, I am also a historian of sorts. I enjoy giving tours and researching all types of subjects, including New Orleans history, Pirates, Hobo’s, and activities and items from the Renaissance Era up to the early 1900′s.
Now back to what’s going on now! For the last few months I have tirelessly worked on making a Vampire Hunting Kit. Most of the items inside I made myself, the rest of the items are antiques or replicas of antiques. The box itself is extremely heavy and quite large. It is not a typical travel suitcase that one could carry in a lap. This is a full chest of items that will quicly and easily dispatch a vampire or three or four. It has four staking utensils of various size and design. There are 13 vials containing the necessary herbs for protection or hunting. There is a book that was written by the ‘original’ builder of the kit in the 1800′s describing the methods for hunting and killing the vampire as well as instructions for using each item provided with the kit. Discovered in a secret compartment hidden inside the kit was a letter written in 1845. The Vampire Hunting Kit is full of surprises and is a work of art in itself. The entire chest was constructed from solid oak and boasts hand dovetailed joinery. It has decorative iron hardware on the outside and brass hardware on the inside. If you are looking for an extremely unique piece to add to your collection, this might be just what you are looking for. I will be posting photos of the Kit just as soon as it is complete… I am still indecisive about whether or not to reveal the location of the secret compartment. I may just leave that to the imagination and allow the new owner to make the discovery on their own.
I will be making new Wands, Druid Sticks, Tankards and adding new games as soon as I complete the Vampire Hunting Kit. Check The Green Dragon’s website for more information and sign up for our mailing list to receive the most up to date information. As always, I am available for custom orders of any kind. Just send me a picture or a sketch and we’ll go from there.
Thanks for visiting the new blog, I hope to see you again! Happy hunting.
